AI data centers alone are expected to add about 323 terawatt hours of electricity demand in the U.S. by 2030, according to Wells Fargo. The forecast power demand from AI alone is seven times greater than New York City's current annual electricity consumption of 48 terawatt hours. The natural gas industry is betting gas will serve as the preferred choice. Coal plant retirements and data centers could result in 6 bcf/d of new natural gas demand in EQT's backyard by 2030, the CEO said. The level of electricity demand could help lift natural gas prices out of the doldrums.

Eight economists, investment chiefs, and strategists that Business Insider recently spoke to credited healthier-than-anticipated consumer balance sheets and spending for the continued expansion. South Korea to consult China over urea export delays

SEOUL, Dec 4 (Reuters) - South Korea on Monday said it will consult China to prevent disruption to urea supplies after Korean companies reported the fertiliser and emissions reducing chemical was taking longer to pass through Chinese customs on its way to the peninsula. South Korea imports over 90% of its urea supply from China. In late 2021, a new Chinese export requirement aimed at increasing domestic supplies triggered panic buying among South Korean drivers of diesel cars and trucks who are required to use urea solutions to cut emissions. South Korea resorted to government rations while trying to secure alternative suppliers. Diesel cars account for about 40% of registered vehicles in South Korea.

Morningstar estimates fair value based on its projection of a company's future cash flows and the predictability of those flows. In fact, year-to-date, many utilities stocks have fallen by more than even long-dated bonds. Green hydrogen, produced by splitting water through electrolysis using renewable energy, is expected to play a key role in decarbonizing various industries, including transport. Construction of the demonstration project in DeBary would begin later this year and could take about one year to complete, Duke said. The new system would begin with the existing 74.5-megawatt (MW) DeBary solar plant providing clean energy for two 1-MW electrolyzer units.

The proposed tax credit, 45V, is meant to turbocharge the production of low-emissions hydrogen. July 5 (Reuters) - Utility firm Duke Energy (DUK.N) said on Wednesday it would sell its commercial distributed generation business to private equity firm ArcLight Capital Partners in a $364 million deal. The business includes operating assets of REC Solar, which Duke had acquired in 2015, development pipeline and operations and maintenance portfolio, as well as distributed fuel cell projects managed by Bloom Energy (BE.N). Duke said it expects about $259 million of proceeds from this sale, which the company would use to help incorporate more than 30,000 megawatts of regulated renewable energy into its system by 2035. Electric utilities in the United States are streamlining their operations to shift away from fossil fuels toward cleaner energy sources, including solar and wind, to meet climate goals. "The sale of commercial renewables businesses streamlines our portfolio and provides the resources to support our growing regulated territories," said Duke President and CEO Lynn Good.
